Plymouth Mental Health Collective – January 2025 Event Update

Dear Collective Member,

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our latest Plymouth Mental Health Collective event on Wednesday, 29th January. We’d love to hear from you—have you connected with someone from the event to work on a project, share resources, or support each other’s initiatives? Let us know so we can highlight these amazing partnerships!

This session focused on bereavement support in the city, responding to feedback from those working in the sector who wanted to learn more about services available for people who have lost loved ones or are experiencing the different types of grief! It was inspiring to see so many passionate individuals and organisations come together, share their work, and spark new collaborations.

We were grateful to have insightful contributions from:

St Luke’s Hospice, who shared information about their Compassionate Cafés, providing a supportive space for those who are grieving.

Jeremiah’s Journey, who highlighted the role of creativity in grief and the services they offer to support bereaved children, young people, and families in Plymouth.

Simply Counselling, who spoke about their support services and introduced the Parents and Emerging Adults Overcoming Toxic Stress (PEOATS) project, which focuses on helping families navigate stress and trauma.

• Lauren from Wellbeing Workshops, who presented her idea for a ‘Support the Supporters’ initiative—designed to care for practitioners’ wellbeing, ensuring they can continue to provide the best support to those in need across the city.

As always, we remain committed to supporting smaller grassroots organisations, ensuring they have the space to amplify their voices and share their impact. If you know of any local initiatives doing great work, encourage them to get involved in our future events!

We also want to make our showcases as engaging and valuable as possible. Do you have any suggestions for formats, themes, or ways to improve the experience? Whether it's more interactive sessions, networking opportunities, or new ways to highlight the incredible work happening in our community, we’d love your feedback.

Looking ahead the next Plymouth Mental Health Collective will take place in May, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a speed networking session!
